| Navigation Closure Update Lock 1 to Lock 16 Marple Flight Details Type: Navigation Closure Waterway(s): Peak Forest Canal From: 9 June 2026, 5:05pm To: On-going Region: North West Reason: Repair Subject to review on: 18 June 2026 Location Closest waterway: Peak Forest Canal Starts at: Lock 1 Ends at: Lock 16 Descriptions Update 11 June 2026, 9:53am Navigation remains closed between Locks 1 and 16 on the Marple Flight of the Peak Forest Canal following damage to the balance beam at Lock 10. Our reactive team has completed the necessary inspections and confirmed that the balance beam requires replacement. A suitable replacement beam has now been sourced however, it will need to be reshaped before repair works can be scheduled and carried out. The beam is being transported to the workshop and is expected to take approximately three days to reshape. Once the reshaping is complete, the team will be able to schedule and install the replacement. The next update will be provided on or before Thursday 18 June. Original 9 June 2026, 5:03pm Navigation is currently closed between Locks 1 and 16 on the Marple Flight, Peak Forest Canal, following damage to the balance beam on the lock gate at Lock 10. Our teams have attended site today and carried out initial inspections and further inspection will be continued tomorrow. A further update will be provided on or before Thursday 11 June.
